We want YOU to join our team! State Line Distillery is hiring both Prep/Openers & Bar Backs to join our front-of-house staff.

State Line Distillery is a grain-to-glass distillery located in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin. We are a small, hardworking team that brings our passion for our craft to work every day. Our focus is on distilling the highest quality grain-to-glass spirits, supporting our community, and delivering thoughtful original and classic cocktails to customers who visit our cocktail lounge.

BARBACKS -

We are looking for an enthusiastic barback to provide an excellent guest drinking experience. Good barbacks will be able to assist bartenders and meet customers’ needs and expectations. Once a barback has demonstrated their skill and knowledge as a barback, we will begin training up to the bartender, usually about 6-12 months after hiring. Compensation includes hourly and tips.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare craft cocktails and all other drinks for bar patrons

  • Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks

  • Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations

  • Prep ingredients to mix cocktails

  • Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age

  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies

  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience

  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations

  • Bar setup, cleaning, and closing

Skills

  • Computer literacy

  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

PREP / OPENERS -

We are looking for an enthusiastic prep/opener to help accommodate an excellent guest drinking experience by setting up the bar for a successful night shift. Prep/openers need to be able to self-motivate to thoroughly accomplish a daily list of tasks. Once a prep/opener has demonstrated their skill and knowledge, we will begin working with them on recipe and menu development, usually about 6-12 months after hiring. Compensation is hourly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Juice citrus according to correct pars

  • Prepare garnishes so that they stay fresh

  • Prepare syrups, infusions, and batches according to recipes

  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies

  • Properly communicate with management about ingredient needs

  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations

  • Bar setup and cleaning

Skills

  • Computer literacy
